So I like to paint and Draw

As a small child I lived in a smoky dark corner of an industrial mill town in Lancashire. Occasionally I would visit my aunty Mary who lived on the edge of the Pennines. It was often cold, but such wide-open spaces to play, chase frogs and eat whim berry pie in the evening after picking the berries.

I moved here in Plymouth around 35 years ago as a schoolteacher and advisory teacher for special needs. The pressure of teaching spurred me on to develop my own artwork further in my spare time and eventually I left mainstream schools to teach watercolours and drawing to adults at various colleges and privately. Now I do little teaching and concentrate solely on my artwork experimenting with a variety of mediums and subjects. My current obsession is miniature paintings

We spend time on the North Coast of Cornwall in our static caravan and I have become fascinated with those raging seas and cliffs of this coast.  Dartmoor holds a similar spell on me, wild landscapes, old ruins, deep clefts where streams murmur past ancient oaks. My shipwreck poster have gone round the globe particularly my ‘Shipwrecks of Plymouth Sound’ Also my poster of  Shipwrecks Around Looe and Polperro.

I have my own website and commissions, but also deal with local galleries in Plymouth.

A few of the other places I have sold paintings:

Thame in Oxfordshire even as far afield as Ibiza. I exhibited at the Professional Artists Open Art Display at the Council House Building Plymouth Civic Centre in 2013 and in the Piazza marquee at the British Art Show in Plymouth. Like many local artists I am a member of Drawn To The Valley Art Collective. My posters of shipwrecks are archived at Plymouth Local naval History Library.
