Classes

Ashtorre Community Centre, Saltash

I will be running 3 classes. 10 weeks in the autumn and from January and a short term in the summer. I may also run several workshop days.

Details are below. This autumn term I will be revising some 'basic watercolour techniques', especially the problem of finding the correct shade for a painting. We shall also look at 'composition' and how to 'apply paint' onto damp, wet and dry paper as well as making the right sort of mark. Help will be available for those who worry about drawing out preparations.

All these skills will be within a framework of a landscape, flower or other popular theme. For some students there is the option to develop your own theme, painting and receive 1-1 help as required. New students are always welcome and given extra support. We have a wide range of abilities making for a very interesting two hour session for all. Bring your own materials please. You can obtain a discount card when you attend for 'Servicepoint Art Materials' Mayflower St, Plymouth.

The Ashtorre Rock classes in Saltash is I think the most perfect place imaginable for a painting class. There are panoramic views of the river all around and even a lounge and snack area downstairs. Also a veranda with seating when it is sunny. The art room has good light, water and suitable tables and chairs and the voluntary staff are always a tonic to deal with. The class is in the afternoon is always pretty full. Time is 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Payment is for 10 sessions only, which works out at £5 a week, i.e. £50 per term. Worth mentioning are the exhibitions the group hold twice a year, towards Christmas and in the Spring.

St Budeaux Library Art Group is a well established group that I tutor on a Thursday afternoon. The Library has the largest room of all the libraries in Plymouth, with good light and easy access to study resources. Beginners are always welcome and receive extra support. Work follows a similar pattern to the Saltash groups but some students work in acrylics, pen/ink, pencil or watercolour. £45 per term. Library resources available and wall space for hanging paintings.

The Harrowbarrow Art Group meet at the Community Hall on alternate Tuesday afternoons. That is once a fortnight from 1.30 till 3.30pm. Starts Wed 5th Oct. 2010. Similar routine to the above classes, but perhaps even more students follow their own theme. £40 per term.

The autumn term is often the busiest. Email me to reserve your place, or to just to find out further details.
Classes re-start after Christmas from Tuesday 10th January 2012
